To Donal, Fiona and Helen, i have just heard of the devastating news of the passing of Claire. Im heartbroken. Claire was a wonderful, caring and funny woman. I have the best memories of endless cups of tea and chats in her kitchen. Heaven has gained an angel. My prayers and love are with you all. x

My sincere condolences to the Egan and Grennell families. Clare was my first basketball coach in Mid Sutton almost forty years ago. She was such a friendly, cheerful, calm, encouraging, complimentary and inclusive person. It was always a delight to be in her company.

I first knew Clare in St Mary's, Killester where Clare and her sisters Breda, Philly and Imelda were exceptional basketball players and a very important part of our school community.
I more recently knew Clare as a neighbour and picking up our grandchildren from school.

My sincere condolences to Donal and the girls, Martin, Philly and all the family. Clare came into my life like a little angel. I never met anyone as kind and caring. She laid on an absolute feast for my daughter Orla after she got married. She made us feel like royalty. I loved when I met her because she always had a smile. She was the essence of kindness. What a great legacy she has left. A bright light has left this earth and I will miss her.

I’m so sorry to hear of Clare’s passing. Many is the evening we as neighbours ran up to Killester Kaleidoscopes/Kittens training together. Clare had a calm style which belied her interception prowess and accurate shot which I always admired. My sympathies to her family.

I was so very sorry to hear of Clare's passing.
Having worked with her in St. Mary's Primary in Baldoyle I found her to be kind, fair and encouraging towards all the students she coached.
She brought out the very best in every child and always made sure everyone was included in the game.
Her expert coaching fostered a love of basketball in all the pupils and she was really well liked by both staff and students.

We worked together many years ago and I will always remember her as a gentle, kind and caring lady.

I’ve never seen anyone playing defence as clever as Clare. She was a strong player and coach physically but she could think the game faster than anyone I know. 🧡🖤

My sincere condolences To Donal and the girls and all the Grennell and Eagan families on the loss of Clare. I remember meeting Clare as a 12-year-old in the basketball club. The first thing I noticed about her was her gentleness and kindness. That all changed when she got on a basketball court, she was as tough as nails with an indomitable will to win but as soon as the final whistle blew Clare once again became that gentle soft person that she was all her life. She has left a huge legacy that hopefully will be of some comfort to her family in the coming months and years. Rest in peace Clare.
