Sincere sympathy to Sheila, Mark and Julie on Cliff’s sad passing. May he Rest in Peace.
I worked with Cliff for 25 years and I always appreciated that he was an excellent lawyer, a good and decent man who would go out of his way to help and who did not like a fuss.
I did not realize until more recent times what an extraordinary man he was and what a wonderful life he and Sheila lived.
Mark said it all today when he explained what they considered to be mundane could include taking off with the family on the high seas ,fly fishing in Mayo, negotiating with an Arab in North Africa on the number of camels that would represent a fair exchange for Sheila or giving friends a lift home via a spin in a two seater airplane.
Cliff could turn his hand at anything mechanical and loved a challenge. I understand that this carried through to the end when he completely baffled the boffins in Haven Bay, who believed their dementia ward security system to be 100% impenetrable. That was until Cliff arrived on the scene and decided he would like a stroll in the garden.
The best of Cliff and Sheila was on show today in the way Mark and Julie conducted themselves.
He would have been chuffed and so proud.
May he rest in peace .
I’m sure he’ll have the pearly gates working much more efficiently in no time at all. imagine being related to the man to first use solar panels in heaven.
