Joe was a legendary figure in Irish sporting circles and was ever modest about his formidable achievements in hurling and football. He worked in Cork for a period of his career and it was always a pleasure to be in his company. He was a true oenophile, willing to share his knowledge, quietly, with his many friends and memories flood back of interesting, informative chats with him on the subject of Chilean wines. Dear Barbara, Aisling, Karen, Shirine and Orla
Joe was forever a brave soldier, gentleman and so full of fun. I remember him being stoic (and very happy to be alive) when we were very young in El Arish (Sinai) he had been in a convoy that had been unfortunate enough to go over a mine and I believe he was injured. He continued to tell us stories and make us laugh. Joe you are an angel. Thank you for being so kind to us xxxxxxx
