Colm Fennessy

Sending sincere condolences to Colm’s family from across the miles. Your loss is big and is also Clonmel's loss. Colm was everywhere in the landscape of Clonmel, especially when we were growing up. Clonmel’s most colourful. The dashing leading man in the Desert Song, the dashing leading man in everything……belting out the showtunes with gusto, style and joy. An inspiration to the youngsters at the White. He was there at some of Clonmel’s happiest of times – the after-parties in Daly’s or perched by the bar in Mulcahy’s – and attended to some of Clonmel’s saddest times, bringing dignity, solemnity (and style). Gone too soon. Immortal on the walls of the White. Rest in Peace, Colm.

I've only just heard now of the passing of Colm. A character in Clonmel. Was so nice to me as a teenager, always a lovely word to say, or to take part in a sing song in Mulcahys. You will be missed by many people. Rest easy Colm.

So sad to hear of Colm's passing. I remember colm well from my grandparents house next door in Queen Street and of course later around clonmel. My auntie Nan took great pleasure in telling anyone who would listen that she discovered his talent. Rest in peace Colm.

It was with shock and sadness that I learned of the passing of Colm. A wonderful gentleman would always stop and have a chat when we would meet in the street. Theatre and Clonmel would be the topics. My deepest sympathy to all the Fennessy family, may Colm rest in peace.

I've known Colm for as long as I remember and he left an indelible mark on me, I'll forever remember our many great chats over the years about the arts and my favorite chats about Clonmel history. Clonmel has lost a proper legend of the town. My condolences to his loved ones.

The community of St Mary’s Choral Society is deeply saddened by the passing of our vice president, honorary life member and cherished friend, Colm Fennessy. Colm’s connection to our society dates back over fifty years, and from the beginning he shone as an exceptional performer and a warm, encouraging presence. Over the years, he brought extraordinary talent and dedication to every role he played, with a voice that touched all who heard him and earned him awards, admiration and heartfelt affection. His kindness, humour and generosity offstage were just as memorable. Colm was a loyal supporter of our society, always ready with encouragement, wisdom, and kindness. His love for St Mary’s and for the community that surrounds it never wavered. Colm’s legacy lives on in the many lives he enriched and he will be sorely missed by us all.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his sisters Colette and Geraldine, his nieces Andrea, Sheena and our vice-chairperson Gillian, grandnieces Saoirse, Izzy and Doireann, and all of the extended Fennessy family at this very difficult time.

We were deeply shocked and greatly saddened to hear of Colm's sudden and untimely death.
It is almost 40 years since we left Clonmel but despite this lengthy period we still retain treasured recollections of Colm both on and off stage. Colm was as personable off stage as he was talented on stage.
He loved recounting astonishing stories of "CLonmel's great characters" forgetting that Colm himself was indeed one of the great characters.
He will be greatly missed by so many but particularly by Geraldine and Colette and the extended Fennessy family to whom we extend our deepest condolences.

Very sorry to hear of Colm’s passing.
On many visits back to Clonmel (from foreign fields), I would often run into Colm walking around town. He had a warm and easy grace about him and always a friendly smile even for a long-lost emigrant.
A town’s cultural scene is so important to its character and livability and Colm was certainly a big presence on the Clonmel scene.
Hope he’s singing and performing now in the grandest of theatres.
