Our hearts are with you all. My family lost our dad in similar circumstances 20 years ago this year. It nearly killed us at the time but we got through it albeit battered and bruised. Any advice we have is to embrace every emotion that you are feeling at the time you are feeling it . Try not to be too hard on yourselves. Should have would have could have helps no one. Talk to each other and to your friends. Sending love and strength for the tough times ahead

Deepest sympathies to Edel and family on the sad loss of Colm. I am a retired member of An Garda Siochana and living in Canada since 2009. I worked opposite Colm on Unit C in Cabra when Colm was in Finglas. We both got promoted to sergeant the same year and parted company. I think Colm pulled a stroke on me and got a better station on promotion. I last met Colm two years ago by accident at a kids soccer match in Porterstown. Colm was managing a kids soccer team. My last contact with Colm was when he emailed me out of the blue to see how I was getting on in retirement in Canada. What a nice thing to do. I was devastated to hear of his death . Rest in Peace now Colm until we meet again. GOD BLESS

So sad that Mr.Fox's life ended as it did. Sad for his wife, kids, friends and colleagues.
His vocation helped many others- not many would put themselves in harms way to help tackle those who don't believe in the rule of law and inflict anarchy and evil on society.
He has left behind an amazing legacy- his service to the community was something that his family can be very proud of. Be at peace now. RIP.
