To lose a person of Colms talent, wit, and professionalism so early in his years is a bitter pill of life to swallow. T'is many a time i cursed him for reading out the result i didnt want to hear, but you could nearly hear the sympathy in his voice, sorry susan but.......... Well Susan says.. Its ok Colm, you were just doing your job, the job you always did so well, and I am sorry you cant do it anymore. Rumour has it you have already joined Betfairhaven as a tipster. God bless you with that.... we'll meet again.
May Colm rest in peace. He's such a loss for so many.
May Colm rest in peace. Many a good chat we had in Mallow and Leopardstown. He was always generous with his tips and sure no matter if they came in or not.
I must tell this story, a few years ago, I got an injury when I was in secondary school just before my Easter Holidays and my 16th Birthday. My sister tried her best to brighten up my day so she e-mailed RTÉ asking if Colm would send me an e-mail, as she knew I respected him. It contained a Birthday wish and a wish to a speedy recovery which would be aided by plenty of sporting action. Something that he would indeed say.
Needless to say, I was over the moon to receive this, and I was happier to receive this from him than anyone else in RTÉ. He was an absolute gent and he will be sadly missed.
RIP Colm, I hope you are up there enjoying the Galway Races.
Also my deepest sympathies to Colm's extended family
