I know from our recent chats that you will all miss your dear brother Colm.
From reading the Condolence Messages on RIP.ie - it is very evident that Colm is a huge loss to many people, including his Work Colleagues and GAA family.
May God be good to him and to you all, and May he Rest in Peace.

Deepest sympathy to all of Colm's family. Only learned of Colm's passing at the weekend. Colm showed a special loyalty to Synge Street CBS and to our sport's teams long after he left Synger in 1981 regardless of the code. He is in the thoughts and prayers of us retired teachers and sports mentors. May he rest in eternal peace.

To Colm’s family, my sincerest sympathies to you on the loss of Colm. I was a class-mate of his in Synge Street and we had plenty of craic during the time we sat together. Even with the passage of time, I have fond memories of that school friendship. I bumped into him outside Croker a few years ago and he hadn’t changed a bit, the same old Colm. May he rest in peace.

Emer, Thinking of you and your extended family on the death of your brother, Colm. You are in my thoughts and Prayers. May Colm Rest in Peace.

Uncle Col, we'd only really began to form a closer relationship over the last number of years, when I became old enough to drop in for pints after college of my own accord, I grew a sense of closeness these years, it became a frequent thing and I realised I'd found my secret comrade within my own family, bonding over our shared political views and lens of seeing the world.

I can't stop thinking of the conversation we had where you told me to always continue to do things 'my way' citing; that's what I'd done so far and I'd proved all the begrudgers wrong, you said never let anyone stop me from doing what I set out to do, best just keep doing things 'your way chicken'.

Well Collie, from me to you, I promise to always continue to do things my own way and I will have my first full Guinness in your honour when I can sit with the family at your stool.

I will always remember the absolute gent, true blue and a wise man you are, our Col.

Fond memories of good times back in the day with Colm. A man who knew his sport. A good companion and solid soul. Whenever I hear Dublin in the Rare Ould Times, Colm would always spring to my mind. Condolences to all his family.

A message to the Whelan family; I only knew Colm as an outsider about 15 years ago but, after getting to know him, his warmth and friendliness were obvious. Soon, I used to make a point of passing into the office merely to give him a wave. His smile on a Sunday morning swept any troubles away and reminded one we were amongst friends. And I also love the fact that when Colm speaks to you, he does so intently, not distracted by anything else.

Colm gave so much to Synger & we were lucky to have him. We are left with some amazing memories of times with Colm, as no doubt others are also, a testament to the positive impact he had on so many people's lives.

I used to call to Briody's on a Sunday afternoon/evening and I would often chat to Colm. He was always a very welcoming and engaging gentleman. I am sad at his death but I hope this gentle soul has gone to a better place where he can enjoy his GAA. RIP, Colm.
