Commodore Joe you were a legend. One of my nicest memories was a trip to the Scillies on STY Tailte with you onboard and John Leech as skipper. Great times. You were also one of my first Captains. Great times with a 3 mile limit. You always pointed out interesting things ashore. You made yourself famous one time doing that off Ballycotton. You called out over the speaker system "Aft, aft, look aft, aft". Great times.Deepest Condolences to Carmel, your family near and far.

Our sincerest condolences to all the Deasy family on the loss of a true gentleman. He was a pleasure to sail under and always had a kind word for everyone. He will be sadly missed.

His intelligence, wit, and friendship were qualities we valued highly. He entertained us frequently with stories of the loves and passions of his life .... , pride in family, days at the races, the fortunes of Waterford hurling, and his annual take on the Tour de France.
He had great pride in his naval career, and one of our abiding memories is a great outing he organised for us to the Naval College in Ringaskiddy. We will miss a lovely man and a dear friend.
