Deepest condolences to Con’s family on his passing.

He was a lovely, lovely man who I remember well from the Deaf Club.

From my earliest memory visiting the Deaf Club with my parents (Kevin & Patricia Lynch), he was always there with a big smile and hello, and always had time for a chat.

A true gentleman, I’m very sad to hear of his passing. May he R.I.P.

Deepest condolences to Con's family and his many, many friends. He was an absolute gentleman, so kind, so joyful, and so playful. I first met him when I was still a teenager, just starting on my own journey with the Deaf community and, as so many others have mentioned, his warmth of welcome extended to all who crossed the threshold of the Deaf club. I felt that and was so grateful for it. I later had the great privilege of working at 40 Lwr Drumcondra Road for many years and, with a habit of working late, often had lovely conversations with Con. He was so generous with his time, cared so deeply for the Deaf community, and, of course, his other big passion was sport. I am deeply grateful that I had the good fortune of knowing him. At dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

On behalf of Reach Deaf Services Board and Staff, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Con’s family and friends, particularly within the Deaf community.
While Reach Deaf Services was delighted to welcome Con to St Joseph’s House a number of years ago, it is the contribution he made prior to that which will stay with us. Con was a remarkable man who ran the Deaf Club in Drumcondra for many years. His dedication went far beyond opening the doors each day- he gave his time, energy, and heart to the community.
Driven by a deep sense of community spirit and his love of sport, Con - a talented and well-known footballer - inspired and supported everyone around him. His passion was guided by a deep understanding of how important the Deaf Community was for future generations.
Con’s warmth, reliability, and commitment will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire for many years to come.

May he rest in peace

Condolences to the family of Con on his sad passing, may he rest in peace. He was a lovely man and had a great sense of humour, always smiling from ear to ear, remember him at deaf club in Drumcondra and bringng tea and biscuits to basketball meetings that we had every month in the club.
Heartfelt condolences to Con’s family and friends. I had the good fortune and pleasure of knowing Con over the years and always found him to be the ultimate gentleman, who was a passionate sportsman, most especially involving sports in the deaf community, and also immensely proud of his Cork roots. He had an infectious positivity and a wonderful sense of humour, and he enriched the lives of so many around him. May this fine man rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to the Lynch family on the passing of Con.

A true gentleman and pioneer of Deaf sports in Ireland, Con earned three caps for Ireland Deaf Football and captained Munster at the first-ever Inter-Provincial Championship in 1973. He played with Munster until 1989, helping them win three consecutive titles from 1987–1989, and played for St. Vincent’s Deaf Football Club across three decades.

From his early days with Kilshannig GAA in the 1950s, where he helped win the North Cork Football Championship (though he joked he was “left out at the Victory Social”), to his work as a tailor with Mr. Ring in Lombardstown and Newmarket — and it’s remembered he may have cycled to work — Con later moved to England before returning to Dublin. He also won events at the National Deaf Athletics Championships.

I’ll never forget being with him as an Irish supporter at the first World Deaf Football Championship in Patra, Greece, in 2008. We both went to watch Ireland’s training sessions, and Con, at 73, bravely wanted to play as a goalie, which made me even more worried than usual. Later, he joined in Gaelic football for fun, showing his courage and love for sport to the very end.

Off the field, he served as Honorary Secretary of the Dublin Deaf Association, working closely with all four St. Vincent’s sports clubs. His dedication, kindness, and love of sport leave a lasting legacy.

May his gentle soul rest in peace. 🕊️
