May Con’s gentle soul rest in peace. Deepest sympathy to Anne and Conan. I have such lovely memories of our visit with Con and Anne during a holiday in the Kenmare area some years ago, and memories of childhood visits when on holidays with my late mother, Betty McAleenan, first cousin of Con.

As a past pupil of Mr. O’Sullivan I like many others can say that he was one of a kind. An extremely intelligent and knowledgeable man who didn’t need books to teach.

“There’s no such thing as strangers only friends who haven’t met”. Rest in Peace Sir.

Deepest sympathies to Anne, Conan and the extended family on Con's passing. Fond memories of Con rescuing us at Cuhig cross if we missed the school bus . Con would pack us all in and regale us with stories on the way to CTB. Then there was the video in the late 90's where Con spoke so movingly of ' the wavin pipe' that had saved his mother so much toil by bringing the water into the house.
It was never truer than of Con when we say ' Ní bheidh a leithéad ann arís' Such a man of intellect and deep wisdom.
I was very sorry not to be able to make the funeral and honour Con in that way.

I feel for you at this time of grief. They don't make men like Con anymore.. but then again.. they never did .. he was one of a kind!

My love for English stemmed from my time in the classroom with Con. He had the most unique way of teaching. I didn't need to work to learn, I was absorbing the words, his words, his style... I wanted to seek more and all because of him.
He made such an impact on me and I'm really grateful to have had the privilege of being in his company all those years ago.

He applied his superb memory to recalling the geography, the poetry, and the banter of the Beara, as well as dancing at the Silver Slipper and how he had to change trains 12 times to get from Kenmare to his school in County Laois. He was always kind and decent and had time to talk to everyone. I was lucky to have been taught by him, and his lessons were always exciting, he made sure he had our attention in class and we were so impressed with everything he knew. RIP.
