My deepest sympathies to Cons family and friends. I remember the spring lambs, Dad & Con catching one I could hold. That kept me occupied while they chatted. Beal tra has very fond memories for me and it will forever be associated with Con. Rip.

Every Christmas Day, Con would visit Sheila, ourselves, the Cournane’s & Bride in Ballycarbery, the banter from the year & the future would be discussed. We will treasure the photos & beautiful memories that Con has left us with, there’s a beauty in elder years that’s beyond words. Now Con is in the middle of the Heavenly stalks in peace forever.

We offer our sincere condolences on the sad passing of our wonderful neighbour & friend Con, we have the greatest of memories going back to our childhood days when we would visit Con & Tom on my fathers Honda 50, Con would have the sweets & Tom would have the cash & a “small one” for the driver. Later when I moved to Ballycarbery Con was always visiting us, he, Dinny Garvey if around, & Sheila, discussing everything from weather, hay, silage, advice on the earthing the ridge of potatoes etc. They were the best of friends from childhood. Pat spent a lot of his childhood years in Con & Toms company & he learnt from their intelligence & simple lead life as they had huge respect for nature & the land.
Con could forecast bad or fine weather by pointing out the birds if they were inland or even the sound of the sea at Beal trá, he knew the forecast before it was repeated on the six one news. Laura & Jennifer couldn’t wait for the visits to Con’s with Sheila & Pat & always came home with a bursting bag of goodies. Up to recent years every spring I’d get the phone call to come up & bring the camera to take pictures of Cons ridges of potatoes which he was so rightly proud of, he would stand in the middle of the tall stalks, he could hardly be seen, & as he put it himself, “a great crop again this year” that meant we didn’t buy a spud for years.
