I met Cyril in January 1985 and we went on to work together on many IBM projects, culminating in him becoming CEO of Resolution Technology, a job he loved. He was always cheerful, always positive and always supportive of his colleagues, many of whom became close friends. He was unique and kindness personified and he will be missed.
Dear Cuala, I was very sorry to hear of your Dad's sudden passing and my sincere sympathy to you and your family, may he rest in peace.

Cuala, very sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I offer you and all your family my condolences. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Dear Brenda and family,
We are so sad to hear of Cyril's passing. Cyril was my first boss when I came over to Ireland in 1978 and he could not have been a greater ambassador for everything that is good about this country. He was always positive, warm and caring and had an enormous passion for life. He lit up any room and any occasion and we were lucky to know him as a friend.

Dear Brenda and Family, Very sorry to hear my good friend Cyril has left us. From our time together in Rolls-Royce, through our early days in Dublin, and the good times in those 1970s days in Arnold Grove, but distance took us apart as I and my family have spent the last twenty-five years here in the UK but I have never forgotten our golf Saturday's in Derby, your hospitality in both Derby and Dublin and the children, including my godson, Darragh. May Cyril rest in peace and let us hope we meet again in that eternal light where we can look back at the paths that brought us together all those years ago.
Dear Brenda,
We were very sad to hear about Cyril. Our deepest sympathies to you and the family.

Brenda, please accept our condolences on Cyril's sudden passing. He will be greatly missed, by his friends in AIB, and, of course, in the Dun Laoghaire Old Folk's Association - whom he entertained at many Christmas parties.
Dear Brenda, I am so sorry to hear about the sudden passing of Cyril. Both of you welcomed and hosted me in your home early this year and I feel very blessed to have been able to spend all that time listening to all his wonderful stories of his career and your family. My thoughts, prayers, condolences and love go out to you and your whole family for your loss.
Sincere condolences, he will be sadly missed.
Dear Brenda, and the McGann Family,
We were so, so saddened to hear of Cyril's passing. You and Cyril were incredibly welcoming and generous to our daughter Molly when she was studying in Dublin, and your kindness will always be appreciated. The memory of Cyril beautifully singing in a pub in Dublin years ago, along with my Dad, Larry and others, brings a great smile! All our love to your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers!

We were very touched by the beautiful tributes. While we had the pleasure of meeting Cyril at Conor's wedding, the words shared at the funeral created a picture of the remarkable man he was in life. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the whole McGann family. In Judaism, we say in Hebrew, "Hakmakom Yenachem, may God console you with all who mourn in Zion and Jerusalem."
Brenda and family, our deepest sympathy on the shocking death of Cyril. We worked together in IBM for many years. He was a true gentleman. May he rest in peace.

Dear Brenda and all the family, Richard and I were so sad to hear of Cyril's death. We were both very fond of him and he will be sorely missed by all.
Dear Brenda, Cuala, Conor, Darragh, Michael and grandchildren,
Our warmest best wishes go to you at this sad time. Sheelagh and I share your great loss.
Thank you Cyril for so much but especially for the music which welded our friendship for 58 wonderful years. We had such fun starting in Stan Reilly's pub in Salthill in the summer of 1963, then the Music Makers with Christy, the Western All Jars, the Oriole and the many gigs since then, including for "auld wans" like ourselves. The Altadore Nursing Home gig was special and you were always the star, together with Pat on guitar, me messing on piano and Lucy for special occasions. I now realise how magical it was. Thank you.
Farewell dear friend, may flights of angels guide you to your rest with Jesus. Do keep playing. I know you will continue to look after Brenda and the family and all your old sidekicks.

Dear Brenda and Family, We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of your dear husband Cyril. You are all in our prayers. We regret that we were unable to be at the mass in the church but were able to follow it at home. It was a beautiful ceremony.
We have the consolation of believing that God plucks the fruit when it is ripe and though we will continue to pray for him we know that he is now gone to his true home with God.

Dear Mrs McGann and all the family, I'm just off the phone back home to Mum from London and have become aware of the very sad and sudden passing of Mr McGann. Please accept our sincerest sympathies as a family and know that I'm sending my thoughts and prayers from London as Mum is also. My lasting memory will always be seeing you both arriving or coming from mass to sing in the choir on a Sunday morning when I'm at home in Monkstown with Mum. May all the solidarity, love and support for you as a family give you strength and comfort at this very sad time and throughout all the days going forward. With love, prayers and sincerest condolences, Suzanne on behalf of the Bradley Family

To Brenda and McGann Family,
Thinking of you all at this sad time. Cyril was my Boss from 1998 to 2004 in Resolution Technology. A pure gentleman to work for. I have fond memories of Cyril pushing a Piano through a bar so we could all have a sing song at the end of a night. He was one in a million who always looked sharp in his suits ! A pleasure to have worked for.
Hold your family tight and take care

My deepest condolences to all of Cyril's family and friends.
It was a great shock to hear of Cyril sudden and tragic passing. Cyril was my first introduction to IBM as hiring manager. I always found Cyril very supportive through the years I knew him in IBM and he helped shape my career as he did so many people.
Having lost touch with him over the years, I was only talking to him just before Christmas. We were going to meet up for coffee but, sadly, we both let life get in the way and never managed it.
I will always remember Cyril as one of life’s true gentlemen. He is a great loss

Dear Brenda and family. P.J. and I are truly heartbroken at the sad loss of Cyril. He was just a lovely man and a dear friend and companion musician to P.J. in particular. It must be such an immense loss for you all. I am sorry I could not join you this morning. You know my circumstances. I followed the beautiful funeral ceremony online and also watched the lovely vignette of Cyril’s life with the family at the end. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My deepest sympathies to you Brenda and Conor and all the McGann clan. His epitaph ... "forever spreading joy" ... sums up the man and an example to us all. May he rest in peace with Rory.
