Cyril Scally

So saddened to hear of Cyril's passing. An absolute gentleman. The fun we had on stage in St Mary's Choral Society and a huge help to me personally when I succeeded him as chairperson of the society in 1998. My deepest sympathies to Kathleen and family on your sad loss. May you get the best spot in the Heavenly Choir Cyril. You will be missed dear friend x

Just saw the name Cyril Scally on RIP.IE and it brought me back to my first Station, Clonmel and remembering Cyril arriving as a young Garda from Athlone, my own County of Westmeath. My brief memories of Cyril are of a pleasant and sociable person who was fair in the discharge of his duties as bourne out in the many expressions of sympathy. My sincere sympathy to his family. When I think of Cyril I think of his stories of the glory days of Athlone Town, of the plots of Bob and Bing’s road movies and trivia about soccer games I never saw. Cyril was always ready for a chat, listening and talking in equal measure, and a great neighbour to my parents in Cherrymount. I hope you can all take comfort in knowing his was a life well lived.
