Dear Jen, sincerest condolences to you Donal and family and indeed your Mum and extended families on the passing of your Dad. Take comfort in happy times and fond memories. Sending.hugs x
Dear Loretta and family,
I have just heard the sad news that Cyril passed away a few weeks ago and wanted to send on my sympathy to you all.
As you know, my late father, Denis Buckley, only really got to know Cyril after they both retired and they became very good friends and golfing partners for several years. Dad always held Cyril in very high regard and saw him something of a role model for an active retirement and a positive perspective on life. May they meet up again now and relive those Deerpark golf memories and again enjoy each others company!
Sympathy too from daughter Susan and Mark Scott-Lennon, now in 2 GnS

Our deepest condolences to Mrs Thomas (Loretta) and all the Thomas family. Over the years Mr. Thomas and I had a wonderful ‘driveway’ friendship, talking about anything from golf to work to cars and family and always having a laugh (and what a great laugh and smile he had). My Jennifer, cannot put into words at the moment so she asked me to write this for us. Mr Thomas was a gentleman and had a huge presence in Jennifer’s life growing up and more recently in our children’s lives. Mr Thomas was such a positive influence, especially in Christopher’s educational decisions, Rachel’s confidence for conversation and David’s sounding board for his football analysis (including, returning the ball over the wall!). There has always been a special place for Mr. T in our family. He will be sadly sadly missed and we send our most heart felt condolences to all who loved him . Gareth, Jennifer, Christopher, Rachel & David
Our sincerest condolences Loretta and family on the passing of Cyril. He was a true gentleman and we will greatly miss him around Gleann na Smol.
Sincere sympathy to Loretta and the extended Thomas family. I feel that anything I say here in praise of Cyril will be inadequate. However, I first met Cyril when I joined the Technical Department and always found him to be a kind, generous and supportive colleague. It was a small department and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I subsequently found contact with him through the Pensions Board and he joined a few of us for lunches. When my husband died Cyril of course was a great support and phoned me every few weeks. The last phone call came from his hospital bed. Faithful to the last. May his gentle soul rest in peace
Our deep condolences to Loretta and all the Thomas family on the passing of Cyril. He was a great friend to my parents, Tom and Eileen as well as hockey mate and fellow Guinness work colleague. May he rest in peace.

Rest In peace Mr Thomas
My sincere sympathy to Loretta, children and beloved grandchildren of whom Cyril was so proud. Cyril was a tower of kindness and intellectual energy, most of which he engaged in the service of others - in particular during his many years of dedication to our Guinness Staff Association. He had a gift for connection with those around him. . I’ll miss our lively discussions on his latest good read and his never failing birthday greetings the last of which was in June this year. May he rest in a very well deserved peace.

May He Rest in Peace.
My relationship with Cyril started over 39 years ago when we viewed the house next door to Cyril’s. Cyril was cutting the grass for the previous owner and it was from then on that our relationship developed into us becoming best friends. Our children and grandchildren grew up knowing Cyril as Mr. Thomas and that never changed even into their adulthood.
I became his adviser on lawn issues and we developed a habit of meeting in the garden at least twice a week when we would discuss and resolve the issues of the world. We never parted without having a good laugh.
Myself and Angela will miss him dearly.
Our sincerest condolences to Loretta, Fiona, Derek and Jennifer at this very sad time.

I met Cyril in 1989 when I came to Ireland to reconnect with his daughter Fiona, and we have had many fantastic times, both in Ireland and Australia, not too mention Europe. He was always fun and easy to be with and always went out of his way to make me feel at home when at Gleann na Smol. You will be missed.
A lovely man who looked after me when I first came to Ireland. and always after that. Sorry to see you go Cyril.

To Loretta and family, we wish to extend our deepest sympathy to you all on the passing of Cyril who was a lovely, gentle and kind neighbour. His loss will be felt by everyone in Glean na Smol. May he rest in peace.
My sincere sympathy to you Loretta and to the family on the death of Cyril. I had the privilege of working with him for the last twenty years on the Guinness Retired Staff committee. He was a true gentleman. We owe him a great debt for his dedication and loyalty. May he rest in peace.
Cyril gave of his time, talents and expertise as a most capable and active chairman of the Guinness Retired Staff Association, for which he will have earned the gratitude of thousands of Guinness pensioners. But before that, I have memories of Cyril as a friendly and polite colleague in the old Brewers' Lab in the 50s and 60s. Later, I had the privilege of working alongside Cyril in his role in the technical department of GGSI during the Bulk Draught project, when bulk Guinness draught was pumped into the cellars of certain high-sales pubs. May his gentle soul rest in peace as he again picks up his tennis racquet in the tennis courts of the Lord.
Mr Thomas - I have known you since the first day we moved in next door nearly 40 years ago. You told me about 20 years ago that I could call you Cyril…. But you were always Mr Thomas to me. You wrote me a letter of reference when I was applying for my first job. You were always nothing but kind to me and all the kids in our neighborhood and later in life to my kids - despite the caterwauling in our back garden and the football constantly coming over the wall. When we were kids we used to hide in your front garden all the time when we played tip the can and ran around your lawn and your cars - never once did you mind or have a cross word for any of us. I was always happy to see you when I came home to visit and I am thankful to have seen you so recently and to enjoy a few good chats out the front. I will miss you.
Loretta, Derek, Fiona and Jennifer my thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. May he Rest In Peace and may his memory be a blessing to you.

Dear Loretta, Fiona, Jen and Derek, very saddened to hear of Cyril's passing. A true gentleman, kind and funny, myself and family enjoyed his company in Sydney and Dublin. He was a Guinness colleague of my late father, Michael Dowling whom I'm sure is with him now smiling down on us with a pint of plain. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
