Deepest condolences to Daire's friends and family. I knew Daire first as a boss in 2008 (if you can believe it) then friend. Though we didn't meet frequently we kept in touch. I was lucky to meet him again last year and spend some time together. This is devastating news.

It is unfathomable that Daire is gone. I can only imagine how crushed his family and wapendwa must feel in the face of his absence. I hope there is some solace for all of you in knowing that Daire will outlive us all, because people will forever be telling stories about him. He was unforgettable - truly one of a kind. So sad to hear of Daire’s death. Too young too soon. I used to bump into him on a regular basis in Kenya and Somalia over the years. Always fun and full of life. And the apple of Cleo’s eye.

He was fun and interesting, someone who you naturally gravitated towards. His loss at such a young age is incredibly cruel, especially as he spent his life dedicated to helping others and bringing people together. A wonderful legacy of kindness and compassion. I am shocked and saddened by Daire's death. I arrived in Ireland in January 13th 2026 and if i knew which hospital he was in, i would definitely have loved to see him even just one more time. He is still the best boss i have ever worked for as the office assistant. I wont forget USAID - KTI mombasa where he made working fun for all of us. Heartfelt condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I loved hanging out with Daire when we worked together in Somalia. We had some great times in Nairobi, and later in Dublin, meeting for coffee when schedules allowed. Guaranteed fun with brilliant stories, and always talked about his precious niece and nephew. Like so many friendships in the humanitarian world, we lost touch in the last few years.
