Siguis on siguis, m'agradaria que recordessis el moment de l'any passat en què, sols al menjador de Cloonarkin Drive, vas fer-me posar un casset. S'hi sentien cançons alegres, antigues, amb bandúrries desbocades. Vaig reconèixer que el grup era bo, i tu, satisfet, em vas revelar que els arpegis eren teus. Vas confessar-me que lamentaves no haver-t'hi tornat a posar. No et penedies dels sacrificis (la feina, la família, la vida a Irlanda) que t'havien allunyat de la música, però, en certa manera, em converties en còmplice d'aquell secret, d'aquella sensibilitat compartida.

Just a Cloonarkin Drive, amb la guitarra d'en David i ara fa més de 15 anys, vaig escriure la primera cançó, una imitació de la munió dels discos i la música que m'enviàveu a cada aniversari. L'any passat, també a Cloonarkin Drive, vaig decidir que, el més aviat possible, emprendria el recorregut invers. Amb el temps he après que la família, com la veritat, és una corda que ressona i no s'atura. A hores d'ara ja ho sabràs, però no deixo de pensar que el meu homenatge o la meva manera de recordar-te serà a través del relleu que et prenc: una dedicació a la música, contra tots els elements, una dedicació al ritual que sempre vibra.

Gràcies pel tros de vida junts. Esperem ser-te dignes.

Goodbye, Damian!
You walk away, brother, but with your hands full of all that we have been able to give you back after you have given so much for us.
The imprint you leave is firm and deep. In each of us, you have ignited like a flame of excitement that is reborn every day to value the simple things and to love the people around us.
Your open, jovial and resolute nature, your receptive and clear mind has instructed and comforted us in busy times.
You had to change your beloved Sant Pol and Rubí for another beautiful and welcoming land, but always being faithful to your roots that - in spite of everything - we have never left you out.
Of course, this new land has also been able to thank you for your love and effort, and in it you also leave - with your beloved Conxita - a lasting seed of children, grandchildren and love.
You are leaving, but not far away, because your sense of humour, your sensible reasoning, and your endearing company remain with us.
Have a great trip, dear Damian. You will be forever in our hearts and minds.

T’allunyes, germà, però amb les mans plenes de tot allò que t’hem pogut retornar després d’haver-nos donat tant i tant per part teva.
L’empremta que deixes és ferma i profunda. En cada un de nosaltres has encès com una flama d’il·lusió que reneix cada dia per valorar les coses senzilles i estimar les persones que ens envolten.
El teu caràcter obert, jovial i resolutiu, la teva ment receptiva i preclara ens ha alliçonat i confortat en moments compromesos.
Vas haver de canviar els teus estimats Sant Pol i Rubí per una altra terra bonica i acollidora, però sempre essent fidel a les teves arrels que –malgrat tot- no t’hem deixat mai de banda.
Per suposat que aquesta nova terra també ha sabut agrair la teva estima i el teu esforç, i en ella deixes també –amb la teva estimada Conxita- una llavor perdurable de fills, nets i estimació.
Te’n vas, però no lluny, perquè les teves bromes, els teus assenyats raonaments i la teva entranyable companyia resta amb nosaltres.
