I have great memories playing along with Damien for Drogheda United in the1970's. What great times we had with Jimmy McAlinden as manager and all the Northern players. We had some team then, and as captian Damien was first to welcome and support us.
One of the great days we had was when the new Lourdes ground was opened, when we played Queen Park Rangers. What a day!
Damien was a legend, a great footballer and gentleman, he will be sorely missed, RIP. XX

Great player and a lovely person. I remember former Drogheda United manager manager Ray Treacy saying that Damien was one of the best professionals he ever played with. That was some tribute.

I want to express my deep sympathy to the family and friends of Damien.
I had the pleasure of assisting Damien with a very successful Belvedere schoolboy team.
Under his leadership he was able to give back to the grass roots what he had leaned himself in a successful career in the League of Ireland and the Irish League.
I will always be greatfull for having the few years alongside him on the sidelines, and on the training ground along with lots of great memories which i treasure.

A legend in league of ireland football, I had the misfortune to come up against him in an internal P&T (An Post) competition where he ran the legs off me. Still had the sportmanship in him to come up to me after and shake my hand and to say thanks for the game. Rest easy Damien.

Shocked and saddened to hear of Damien’s passing. First knew him on Maryville Avenue, Raheny when I would visit my cousins Billy and Tony Kelly who were neighbours of his family. Later played with him at Home Farm where he was a formidable striker for our schoolboys team. And covered him during his LOI career for the Irish Press, the Evening Herald and Irish Indo. Lovely guy. Strong and brave on the pitch. Deserved the honours he won in the game. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. RIP Damien
