Just saw the sad news of Dan's passing. Worked with Dan in Enniscorthy. He was a gentle soul, a gentleman & will be forever missed. May he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to the Carey family. Your Dad was a true gentleman with a lovely twinkle in his eye. He was the original sea swimmer, a brave heart who took to the open water decades before it was fashionable. Both Úna and Dan were great friends of my parents, Jimmy & Phoenie Walsh and I have happy memories of sailing in Dan's boat on Lough Corrib, accompanied by Donal, my husband and my Mum.
Dan, Jimmy and Mick Corbett were like the 3 amigos and I love to think of them now - back together again without a pain or an ache, playing golf with the sun on their backs.

I am a former AIB colleague of Dan and also knew his golf buddies in Cork, Jimmy Walsh and Mick Corbett.
When my daughters were pupils in Salerno, you could set your watch by Dan, going into the shop opposite for his newspaper every morning, post his retirement. My deepest sympathies.

Their lives wove together in so many ways, from meeting in Callen when seven years old, spending a lifetime together in AIB and ending up living down the road from each other in Salthill.
