My deepest sympathies and condolences to Trish Jack, Ross and Hugh on the passing of Dan, my 1st Cousin. I was unaware of this sad, sad occasion and am greatly shocked. Sympathies also to Jim.

I have very fond memories of being in your house when I was younger (dancing in the back room for Hugh's birthdays, singalongs with the piano, and the Simpsons spray painted on the back wall!). I had the privilege of knowing Dan since the early nineties. We first met each other whilst employed in Jurys, a working relationship soon developed into a true friendship.
Over the years Dan set a wonderful example to me on so many facets of life and leaves a lasting legacy to his wonderfully talented sons Jack, Ross and Hugh.
In recent times when enjoying his richly deserved retirement, Dan took to poetry, penning some beautiful lines on the people that mattered most in his life, his beloved partner Trish and his family.
In a poem dedicated to his grandchild Zephyr, Dan wrote “and just as he arrived so he departed as if drifting on a gentle summer breeze’
Rest easy Dan your work is done.

What a true gentleman Dan was, he always had time for a chat and if you were in luck a song or two. He was such a big part of our childhood growing up in Ballinclea and had great advice as I embarked on my early career.

I worked with Dan for many years in Jurys Hotel and have very fond memories of that time. I particularly remember the nights out we had which always ended in a great sing song with Dan playing his guitar, he had such a talent.
