Sincere Condolences to Dans wife Mary, daughters Catherine & Eleanor, sons John & Michael on the passing of Dan, to his Brother Humprey and Sister Betsy and their extended families, friends and neighbours, I have great memories of Dan going back to early days in Civil Defence, to Vintage and so on, Dan was involved in so many organisations and gave so much, IFA , the Church and always willing to help a neighbour when wanted.
Dans passing was an unexpected shock to everyone, Dans accuracy was second to none, minutes of meeting were transcribed word by word as stated at the previous meeting and no matter how poor or well an event was run Dan would always finish by saying “We did our best and that’s all that can be expected “

On my own behalf and that of the Friends of St. Ita’s Community Hospital, Newcastle West I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Betsy (whom I know for many,many years) on the very sad passing of her beloved brother, Dan. To his dear wife, Mary and children, John, Catherine, Michael and Elanor and to his brother , Humphrey on the very sudden and unexpected death of dear Dan. Likewise to the extended O’Riordan and Healy families,relations, neighbours and friends. I have known Betsy and her great husband. Vincent overt many years through our fundraising for St. Ita’s and if Dan was anything like Betsy he was , indeed, very special!! It is so very difficult to find any meaningful words of comfort at a time like this but as someone who has had a similar personal experience, to say Dan is gone from the pain and suffering of this world to his Heavenly Home which, I have no doubt, he has truly earned and richly deserves - and from there he will help you all through this very sad and difficult times and in the days ahead - Air dheis De go raibh a anam dilis . We (Stewart and Kiri) were very sorry to hear that Dan passed away.

My mum Eileen was one his first cousins and me and my two brothers Al and Mark got to see him and Mary and family from time to time. He was a very friendly generous man and a great story teller.

When our mother passed away Dan was very helpful in getting things arranged so she could be buried in Millstreet. And when me and Kiri got married he and Mary kindly came over to England for the wedding.

I'm sorry I was unable to attend the funeral, but was very glad to see we could watch it afterwards online.

A phone call from Willie Fitzgerald relayed to me the sad news of the sudden passing of Dan. I never had the privilege of knowing Dan but, from knowing members of the O'Riordan family, I am sure that he was a man of special and noble qualities who was held in great regard in his beloved community in Cork. I express condolences to his wife Mary and family, his brother Humphrey and his sister Betsy and all the family circle, including my good friend Anne Marie (O'Riordan) and Betsy's husband, Vincent Murray (Mayo), and the family circle at this very sad time for all the family.
