I was very sorry to see that Danny passed away. Fond memories of growing up next door in no. 13. He was a lovely guy - I remember the long flowing hair in his Post Office days. RIP

He used to call “Pet”. Thanks to him I didn’t end up homeless when I was in my 20s. I was new to London and quickly run out of money and with no one to turn to. I cheekily, but kindly, asked him if I could stay at the hostel he used to run for the price offered to staff. “Of course Pet”, was his reply. He even helped me to get a job at a pub across the road.
Those people who touch your heart when you’re at your most vulnerable and earn a place in it till the heart beats. That time of my life could have gone so wrongly, yet is the one I remember most fondly, thanks Danny.
