A lovely friend and we will miss him.A rather and Mary O Donnell
I am truly sorry to hear of Danny's death. I knew him in Cahir. He was a lovely man, a great historian and terrific company. His radical and progressive politics inspired me. All my sympathy and an assurance of a place in my thoughts at this time.. God bless, Peter.
Please accept my condolences on your sad loss. Dan was a great mentor to me and many others. His ready wit attracted students to pay attention to things that they would otherwise have ignored quite happily.
He also had a funny side: I remember having a half-hour discussion with him once about the non-existence of the non-God, until I realised he was having me on!
Rest in peace, old friend
What a great History teacher. A wonderful character . You could listen to Dan for hours in Class, funny, witty , lover of the Irish language, a great Teacher and person. Thoughts are with his family, RIP.

So sorry for your loss. RIP.
Sincere sympathy . A great teacher and gentleman.
A sad day.
We worked together from October 1958 when we laboured over Map Projections in Geography in U.C. C.
We parted company for a while until we met again in Cahir in 1964 and managed to keep going in St. Joseph's until 1997 and finished off in The Colaiste in 2000. Dan, you said one night that we never had a row in all that time - there wa no point anyway. All this brings a tear to the eye. God rest you, dear friend and colleague. I am going to miss you.
As Vara Lynn put it: " We'll meet again .... "
Gerry and Peggy.
Sincere Condolences to you Riona Colm and Eimear on your great loss and sad occasion .
May Daniel Rest In Peace
Very sorry for your loss. A great teacher of history which he infused with an even greater sense of dry wit and dare I say it some small sarcasm as well. I will also fondly remember the Friday morning classes in first year when Mr Green endeavoured to drag song out of a group of first years. The Connerys can rest easy as can you sir. From a history fan from Lisava, Cahir and St. Joseph's College Cahir.
