My sincerest condolences to the Dowling Family o the death of your father father in law and grandad Danny. I had the great privilege of spending a day with him to reconnect long long family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to my first cousin Pat and family.Danny was a legend in my book ,the intellectual historian who was an encyclopedia of information.He had such a curious mind that he could converse on many levels.I enjoyed the times visiting both he and Molly ,when home from the states.Godspeed Uncle Danny !!

Sincere condolences to the family. My dad Tom Ryan was a great friend of Danny’s over many many years and they exchanged so many historical papers and anecdotes. It was a pleasure to speak with Mr Dowling when they exchanged phone calls in the latter years. He was a wonderful historian and character. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

My father Dick Redmond was a great friend of Danny and worked with him. I have fond memories of Mr Dowling visiting our home when I was young . He was a lovely gentleman - may he Rest In Peace

So sad to read that Danny passed this week. I only learned of his great historical background recently when Glenmore published his blogs on the web. One of them was about Mother Gerard Phelan RSHM, of Ballyfacey. She was Superior General here in Tarrytown when I entered the Order. She actually died on my birthday in Tarrytown two years later. She followed her first cousin, Mother Butler from the Rower, after she died in 1940. Two great women who did so much with their talents around the world.

I did visit her Ballyfacey home 4 years ago. Incidentally, before leaving for the USA in the late 50s I visited cousins in Ballalog, Tullogher to say goodbye. I was introduced to the house owner next door where the Forristals grew up. Two of them became the mothers of Mother Gerard Mother Butler. RIP Danny. Your rich story telling will be missed.
