What an exemplary life you led, Danny, as indicated by the great outpouring of tributes to you. Among the highest: 'a gentle soul', repeated, repeated; 'a gentleman', also repeated; and what is most impactful - 'a lovely man'. In increasingly divisive times it is most re-assuring that so many people chose to open their hearts to your family and expound on your impact on them.
We were contemporaries in the old, old national school where your presence throughout was exemplary. A fellowship also on the Horse Park and elsewhere where your athleticism helped sustain those of us who struggled to support you and was indicative of the great distinction that was to follow within the family blood lines.
I was privileged to meet up with you on two successive occasions when prayers for the deceased were offered up at Kilnaughtin where we discoursed easily and I had the good fortune to encounter you once more at the weekly Whist Drive, an occasion where I encountered a lovely welcome and was liberally tutored in an art that had deserted me since leaving Tarbert.
