Condolences to you, Beth and Katie and Mick. At these times I always think of how elephants take care of each other when one of them is not well. Pairs take turns supporting the ill one between them giving the middle one a chance to rest while remaining on its feet. Apparently elephants can't breathe as well lying down due to their physiology and so being held up by others offers them the best chance of feeling better. So people share some things with elephants such as the need for support when we are suffering. I hope that you will allow the people around you to be like your own herd and hold you up in the coming months in the same way that elephants take care of their loved ones.

Danny, you were a gentleman and a wonderful brother in law. So many memories, like you introducing me to Real black and white pudding (from Scotland, of course), the factory in Leicester, the Frazier Nash BMW when the guard told you to go on home even though the whole drunken family were on board. Whigmaleerie and watching the TV advert being filmed. Driving me round the Dublin mountains, which you informed me were not mountains at all. Saxophones. How proud you were of your beautiful daughter Katie. How much you loved and respected my beautiful sister Beth. How you came to love and respect my beautiful country, Ireland. After knowing you for most of my life, yet still not enough, my last words to you Danny are Thank You.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to Beth and Katie at Danny’s passing. I have fond memories of Danny showing Conor and me his beautiful garden. Hold fast and treasure your memories.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of my good friend Danny who I had the pleasure of working with in Baileys. Danny was one of the most caring, compassionate and considerate of friends I have ever come across. A man who would never see you stuck and would go out of his way to help you.
