I was very sorry indeed to read of Danny's death. RIP.
My sincere sympathy to his wife Marie, and to his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
I first met Danny in the late 1980s through his work for Wicklow County Library, which had around that time amalgamated with the Bray Urban Library Service.
Danny was a remarkable man in so many ways, and a thorough gentleman withal. A devoted family man, Danny left a lengthy record of public service over 45 years, at Wicklow County Library.
He also came from a family of great Gaels and left a lasting mark on the GAA in Wicklow, especially in his 1954 Senior Championship win with Kilcoole.
I enjoyed a few drinks in his company over the passing years.
I was away in West Clare on the weekend of Danny's funeral and regret that I couldn't attend.
We are all of us the poorer for Danny's passing, but he leaves behind a noteworthy legacy in many different areas.
