I am deeply saddened to hear of Darren’s sudden passing. He was a true gentleman who gave so much of himself to others. His tireless work for the community and his kindness to everyone he met will never be forgotten. He will be missed by all of us in Maynooth Ambulance and the wider service. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Our hearts are broken over the loss of Darren, there isn’t a person who could fill his work boots. He was a brilliant mentor and boss, the skills and memories from the too short time working together will forever be part of Luke.
Life won’t be the same without him for Jean, Ryan, Lilli, Adam, Alex, Kate, the Brays and all the others lucky enough to have Darren in their life. We would give anything to have one more slagging about big ideas or packed lunches or to be stuck in traffic having random conversations for hours on the way to and from work. Darren was always up for a chat, it was impossible to end a conversation, except when Michaela had questions about “slight alterations” then he had to go quick!

My sincerest condolences for your loss.
I knew Darren only a short time but my god was he a true gentleman.

Full of laughter and good energy. Myself and my family instantly took a liking to him. He had no issue putting us straight on queries to do with the work going on in the house, "Can we do this or that?" he'd reply while laughing "You can but I wouldn't" "If you really want to do it, I’ll take your money but your mad".

Sometimes it feels like God only takes the good ones, well he did this time.

Choosing Maynooth as his place to live, Darren contributed to his community in a special way. At the Maynooth Newsletter we have featured a number of times the valued work that the Maynooth Community First Responders do. It takes special people to commit to be there when others need them. Darren was one of those special people.

I didn't know Darren personally but he clearly made a huge impact on the local community which is a legacy most of us can only dream to leave behind. Sincere condolences to Jean and family.
