I loved spending time with Darren, especially backstage when we were doing "Philadelphia Here I Come". I will miss him. And getting updates on his writing ideas. My thoughts are with you all. Darren was a larger than life character who had so many special talents. Ill always remember his mischieveous personality, his friendly and deep persona that radiated around his presence. A lovely young man who achieved so much in his young life. He embraced fatherhood so easily and when he mentioned his wife and children his eyes lit up with love and pride. Youll be sadly missed but i know youll always watch over your family.

I met Darren for the first time three weeks ago at a writing workshop and he made an immediate impression as a writer and, more importantly, as a person. We chatted about writing and life and Darren talked so lovingly and enthusiastically about his wife and children, about home schooling, about music and about work.
He was a joy to be with and I've thought about the things he said a lot.
Raymond Carver's poem 'Late Fragment' came to mind when I heard the sad news.
'And did you get what you wanted from this life
Even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved
On the earth.'
