Dave was the most influential person in the life of every single person he crossed paths with. He didn’t just work in The Stores — Dave was The Stores. There are no words to describe the loss of Dave in our lives. For all the candles Dave lit for us, we will now light for him.
I was so unbelievably saddened to hear of the passing of Dave. I feel so privileged to have known him and to have been part of The Stores crew. To know Dave was to love him. He was such a special soul with the kindest heart, the best of laughs and a genuine care for everybody that he met. There’ll never be another like him. Dave always called me an “auld wan” .. One day he was going home for a few hours kip, due back that night, and I shouted across the bar as he was leaving “get a good sleep now Dave, won’t ya.. it’ll crown you!” Well, he absolutely erupted laughing. “How old ARE you?” he said to me. Alas that became our running joke and how we ended every goodbye to follow.
I hope you really are getting a good sleep now Dave. We will all miss you forever. My deepest condolences to Mary and all of Dave’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time❤️

I still can’t believe Dave’s gone, he was one of a kind. He was such a gent, it was a real privilege to have been part of his life. From the moment he welcomed me into The Stores, he made me feel at home in Wexford. We had countless debates and discussions, both of us too stubborn to back down, but we always ended up laughing. I’ll never forget that laugh.
Thank you, Dave, for the friendship, the laughs, and the memories. Thinking of Mary and all who loved him.

I first met Dave in the early 00’s when I did a night in the old Stores and his first words to me at the end of the night was ‘you’ll be back’. That meant a huge amount to me back then in a place I didn’t know anyone but Dave made me feel at home from that minute onwards. Over the years we had many chats before and after the gigs and shared it over a coffee or whatever was going. Dave was just a pure gentleman and nothing ever bothered him. He loved some odd house tunes that I didn’t expect him to like but nothing compared to Neil Diamond. The odd night I’d treat him to a bit of song sung blue and his head would pop over the bar with a huge smile on his face and a thumbs up. We worked through the great times, the recession, the good times and all those longs Christmas nights but Dave always asked how ya were, how’s the family and just checked in with you like a true friend does. Dave was a friend to me for over 20 years and he was a pleasure to work with. He was and always will be a pure gentleman and I will miss you very much buddy. God bless and a bed of heaven to you. Your goodness and friendship will be missed.

Dear Mary and Family, I am sorry to learn of your recent sad loss. May Dave's gentle soul rest in peace, James.
I first met Dave over twenty years ago when I was a fresh faced barman working in the Riverbank House Hotel, he got a pint, naturally, and insisted I take for one for myself. It might be a small thing for many but showed one of his greatest characteristics, generosity. Years later I had the priviledge of calling him a colleague in The Centenary Stores. I don't know how many hours I spent in your company, how many conversations we had, but what I remember most is the laughter. Memories filled with belly aching, side splitting laughter....and Neil Diamond. Thanks for everything Dave. Rest well my friend.
Mary and Gough family i am so sorry to hear the sad news of Dave passing.

Sitting over the last two evenings with Dave and his beautiful wife Mary has given me a chance to reflect. I am hugely grateful for 42 years of Dave’s friendship. What a man, and a constant throughout my life. I am also grateful to Mary for sharing Dave with us all. In particular Mary, thank you for your generosity of heart over the last few months. Dave’s friendship continues for eternity, just in a different way with a gentle hand now guiding us on our way. Thank you Dave, dear friend.
