Deepest condolences to Barbara and family. I worked for Dave in Halpin’s for 18 years and I can honestly say he was the best boss I ever had. He treated everyone working there the same, whether they were head chef or washing the dishes.

My deepest sympathy to Barbara all the Halpin family. I have known Dave and Barbara for over 40 years and one of my first jobs was in Halpin’s Restaurant on Cook Street. I still have fond memories of those summer days all those years ago and stayed in touch with David throughout the years. I loved to meet him on my trips back to Cork with my brother Ed who I know will miss him terribly. Dave was a unique man with a massive heart for kindness and I will cherish the many memories I have of his cheerful character, positive attitude and conversations about everything and anything. RIP Dave.

It still doesn't seem real that my amazing uncle Dave "Senior" is no longer with us. The love, kindness and guidance he showed me had a massive impact on my life. As a 19 year old I moved to Dublin ahead of uni, Dave came up from Cork to meet me. He told me of his vision for a "web work house", I had no idea what this was, but he wanted me to build and manage the computers! His passion was captivating and my life changed forever that day, I loved it and switched courses from Chemistry to Computer Science.
I never got to thank him or tell him how important he was to me in becoming the person I did, I guess I thought we had many more years. Although this is a sad day it's incredible to hear all the stories about Dave from the thousands whose lives he touched, he will be remembered as a great man.
RIP Uncle and thank you.

Cork is a little less bright with Dave moving on, as long as I remember he has been in the thick and added hugely to cork business life and I have loved visiting all of his restaurants and cafes through the years. He always welcomes with a smile and was great fun. Eco is still my favourite resturant . Our prayers are with the family and staff

Thinking of Barbara and family at this time of your enormous loss.
Very fond memories of Dave, he gave us all our start in the industry in 1976.
We were only 15 yrs old , he said i looked too young , i just kept turning up every Saturday, it only took 3 weeks.
He was not a great believer in CVs, he gave everyone a chance, a man of great compassion and integrity.
Never had an other boss like him he was just plain and simply one of the good guys

It is with a feeling of great sadness to hear about Daves passing. My sincere Condolences to his family and friends May he RIP.
He was a true Gentleman and a true Rotarian.

Such an enquiring mind, a true visionary . His commitment was total as President of Douglas Rotary Club, the Young Chef Competitions, Kids out Days etc. A valued Friend & a wonderful Rotarian.
