I first met Barry through work in Irish Rail back in 2006. He was a Consultant to the Railway Signalling Department, and we worked on projects together. He had an incredible knowledge of railway signalling, and was happy to share his experience with me. Working with Barry was fun.
Following his retirement we kept in touch regularly. He was very interested in current project works.
Barry was very well read and we discussed many topics. He was a good friend to me and I feel privileged to have known him.
Rest in Peace

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Barry.
Full of the chats and plenty of stories!

We were very sorry to hear of Barry’s recent passing. He will be at peace now with Marie, and they are both missed
May he rest in peace

We were so saddened to hear of Barry's sudden death. He will be missed by us all, as is Marie his beloved late wife.
To his family, we offer our sincere sympathy.

Barry words fail me. However in your case, you will no doubt substitute your own on our behalf. God speed to Marie.
I was surprised, shocked and very sorry to hear that Barry Durkin died last Sunday.
For those who may not be aware, Barry had lived in Ireland for around the past fifty years. He worked with Irish Rail and made an enormous contribution to railway signalling and control engineering during that time. Starting with the introduction of the DART in 1984 and all subsequent projects hereafter until his retirement in the late 1990's. He retained his interest in Railways and kept fully up to date with developments. Barry was a fountain of knowledge, which he was willing to share with all, right up to the end. He will be missed.
Rest in Peace Barry.

Very sad to hear the news of Barry's passing last week. We only recently became his neighbour, but he was always so friendly and full of conversation when we bumped into him.
At Christmas we dropped a card and chocolates into him for the holidays, and a few days later he popped in to let us know he would be re-gifting it to a better home, as he couldn't possibly finish all that chocolate himself. We had a great chuckle together over it!
He will be sadly missed by all his neighbours. RIP Barry.

Most sad news as Barry was so happy to see us in attendance at Marie's anniversary Mass on the recent Friday (15th of March).
