I remember David from our time in Secondary School in St Peters College when we were in the same class. Even though I had not met him since those days, in my memory I always associated David with the annual opera put on by the College. My sincere sympathy to his wife and family on his untimely passing and may his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

My thoughts are with Eileen and her boys at this time. David was the guiding light in everything I managed to achieve in Ireland. His wise words and friendship were everything. I remember, on tour in Faroe Islands, him delivering a surprise 15 minute speech in faultless Faroese - how proud we all were. My sincere sympathy to all the family. Indeed, I’ll admit that I hadn’t seen David for over 50 years, but I was very saddened to learn of his passing. He was on my debating team when we pulled off a ‘shock win’ in the Peters College final in ‘73. Such fun and a real sound guy. RIP David.

I grew up in Wexford a few years behind David, and he was always such a Cool Gentle friendly guy to us younger guys growing up. I was so sad to hear about David’s untimely passing. I first met and worked with David on a student internship many moons ago with DGOS in the John Player Building on the South Circular Road in Dublin. It was wonderful to meet up with him again when he came west - first to University Concert Hall in Limerick and then to glor in Ennis. He contributed so much to Irish arts and culture. Sincerest sympathies to Eileen, Darragh and Killian and all his family and friends.

So sorry to hear this news about David, one of the stalwarts of the Georges Street Gang. Our family lived next door; and there were lots of comings and goings between the houses and between the hedges of our lovely long gardens. Condolences to David’s family, and especially to Liam, his brother and companion in those long ago adventures.
