David, Daithi (as we knew him in GCC), Doddy, as he often called himself in his emails to me, was someone I was really proud to have known. We had many great chats on the phone. I can add nothing to the marvellous tribute to him by so many on this site. God rest you, David.

We are deeply sorry to hear about David's passing. We constantly remember him as the sweetest person, and a perfect gentleman. Fond memories of our time together, our travel across Ireland to visit his home town, his beautiful family and our conversations will always be cherished.
He will be missed.

Deepest sympathy to all the Egan family on David's passing. I remember staying with David & Oonagh in their home in Clontarf when they were doing B&B. They made us very wecome & looked after us so well. My aunt Nora O’Sullivan was house keeper with David's parents Mike & Elena in Currow many years ago. When she retired the Egan family never forgot her & regularly visited her at her home in Firies. I will always remember their kindness.

David was the cosummate gentleman and a great neighbour. I remember when I called up to the house as 15 year old brokenhearted little boy to inform him of my own Dad's sudden passing, he just hugged me tight to his chest and said "My dear boy, I'm so sorry". That was David: Kind and compassionate.

My late brother, Michael and David had a special relationship as they shared a passion for tinkering with and fixing cars and I know that David was particularly saddened when Michael passed suddenly 2 years ago.

On behalf of all the Roche family, I'd like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Egan family. This truly is the end of an era, with David being the last of our parent's generation from the Kincora Rd gang to leave us. May he rest in peace.

The Saturday morning juvenile comps that he ran with Diarmuid O'Mhordha for all the juveniles were always so worthwhile to participate in. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.
