Got the very sad news, about Davids passing from Beryls daughter Jillian.My brother Andrew,gave me the link to watch the service today.Sorry i could not make it in person. It was good to hear the full version;of Abide with me sung.Simon spoke so well, about David.Was Abide with me chosen, because of the day David and Sue got married?cup final 1965,when they sing before kickoff;or was it a favourite hymn.Had some wonderful times visiting Westport, over the last 50yrs, with Beryl and Brian, David and Sue would always have a day out organised for everyone and his loving dogs.David was always looking after my mum Beryl,it was sad when she got dementia/Alzheimer's in her later years.I will try and get over soon;to pay my respects.Rest in peace Uncle David, you were a wonderful person,which your godson Neil will never forget.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Dave. We spent many enlightened evenings in his company at numerous Caving Symposia down through the years. He was a great man to have on your quiz team. My sympathies to David’s wonderful family. I will always remember David as an exciting, spontaneous and energetic uncle. Living in Australia and Canada meant I saw him rarely. As a child, my grandmother had so many great stories of her own visits to Ireland to see David and his family. Mostly I recall walks with David across the Yorkshire moors, usually in the rain. But as a driven man, rain meant nothing however soggy we got. Rest in peace dear uncle.
