David Gaffney

We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the news of David's untimely passing. He had guided us through a very difficult issue with unwavering clarity and determination.
The last time we spoke with him, on October 17th. last, he exclaimed "You'll never guess what I've done" ! and then went on to excitedly describe how he had proposed to you, Klaudija.
You and all of David's family are in our thoughts and prayers. RIP David.

David represented me in dealings with a government agency about 15 years ago when I was in a small bit of bother. He was at all times so protective of me, and I remember we went for a drink after all the dealings were done. He seeme like a friend to me that had my back that happened to be my solicitor. So sad to read about his untimely passing.. His contribution left a lasting impression on me.. Condolences to his family and all those close to him.. In the short time of our solicitor/client relationship, I knew him to be one of life’s characters..

I’m just hearing of Dave’s passing today and I’m beyond shocked. Dave helped and represented me as a lawyer on a number of occasions but beyond that I felt we had a friendship also. I remember when he set up his firm off South Mall and how excited he was of the prospect. I teased him often about putting a ring on Klaudija’s finger - delighted to read here that he finally did. A great guy lost before his time. My condolences to Klaudija and Dave’s family - such an awful and unfair thing to happen.

I only recently heard the news about Dave. I knew Dave in CSN and we were in a lot of the same classes. He was always in great form, smiling and a decent guy. My sincere condolences to Klaudija and all the Gaffney family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of David’s passing. I’ll miss our long chats, his thoughtful insights, and the steady, practical advice he shared. David’s humanity and strong sense of justice were always evident, as was his love for his partner, family, and cat (who often made an appearance during a video call) and of course his enduring love of basketball. David was truly one of a kind...he encapsulated so much in just one being. His kindness and empathy knew no bounds, his ability to put others at their ease in times of strife was unparalleled and truly if there was ever a natural born wit, David was it. I met David through work and we quickly became firm friends. His brain was second to none, his passion for justice and doing the right thing were always to the fore and his willingness to not only help but to educate others was truly admirable. David had many friends and that is not at all surprising...a magnet, he drew people to him and his genuine nature and great (often wicked) sense of humour meant they always stayed 'round. My heartfelt condolences go to Klaudia, David's parents, sisters, nieces and nephews. He spoke of you all often, with much fondness and love. RIP dear David...you will be sorely missed and I feel truly blessed to have had you in my life.

Mick, Mary, Klaudija & all of the Gaffney family, so shocking & heartbreaking to hear of David’s sudden death. I have so many lovely memories - as his babysitter in Halldene, and also watching him, Kevin, Deccie & the lads navigate their teenage years in Kenley with occasional mischief.

He grew up to be such a kind, clever young man.
