Sincerest condolences to David’s wife Collette and the Hyland family, David will be fondly remembered as one of the Irish bookmaking greats, he led the line in giving value to punters, what endeared him even more to the punter is that he held the line when ‘the price was gone’, he was the ‘Pied Piper’ of the betting ring, his memory will live on in Irish racing folklore. Rest in Peace David.

Colette -
May every beautiful happy memory you shared together bring you solace. Those memories are a treasure that can never be taken away- a testament to the extraordinary love and life you both shared. Along with the cherished stories from all that knew Dave, may you find comfort in knowing how much he was loved , admired and the lasting influence he had on the lives of everyone he met.
On a personal note - and a lovely memory of mine- That day we met in Dalkey for a coffee, it was cold but sunny. I could have chatted for hours with you both. A gentle soul,Dave was incredibly kind and so very interesting to converse with. It is easy to see how so many people held him in such high esteem and regard. My condolences too to Daves' family.
Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved, so much.
-Helen Brennamen
There is no night without a dawning
No winter without a spring
And beyond the dark horizon
Our hearts will once more sing…
For those who leave us for a while
Have only gone away
Out of a restless, care worn world
Into a brighter day.
