David's kindness and his endearing manner have left a lasting impression on me and I will remember him with fondness. His depth of knowledge was remarkable and it was a true pleasure to speak to him at meetings of the Irish-Chinese Cultural Society (ICCS). Deepest sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace.
I have very fond memories of David when I was a young student in the 70s. He had a brilliant mind, was an absolute gentleman, and was really an exceptional lecturer.

Especialliy, we enjoyed his company at the Chinese New Year dinners over the years when he was wearing his "splendid" Chinese Jacket.
A true scholarly "gentle" approachable man with time for "ordinary" people and lovely sense of friendliness & humour. An understated knowledge of the Chinese Cultural history and language.
I had missed meeting him in recent times in the postpandemic years
Sincere condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace.

A model lecturer in UCD, ahead of his time, and an exemplar to myself. Also open to other cultures, notably China.
Pardon me while a drop a perpendicular, he always apologised for the same.

Rosemary, we were so sad to hear the news of David. One of the loveliest people to meet, we enjoyed his company, sense of mischief and fun on our wonderful music trips. His love of maps, shared bubbles and many plates of dumplings will stay with us always. Rest in Peace David.
I remember David Judge as an overwhelmingly enthusiastic lecturer, who could not bear to leave anything unsaid. In his gentle way, a complete treatment of such a wide range of topics was presented. One day, he arrived late, commenting how easily Rosemary seemed to get the children ready but, when he took a turn, he realized how difficult it was!
A great gentleman and dedicated teacher, he is fondly remembered.

Deepest sympathy to David's family. He was a truly wonderful teacher. I cannot begin to list the major mathematical ideas I first learned about in his classes; there were so many. He was completely outstanding for commitment, enthusiasm, dedication, uncompromising integrity, and sheer energy. Later it became clear how funny he was, and what a support and encouragement he was to younger colleagues. It was a huge privilege to have known him, and I will miss him. RIP.
Dear Rosemary and all the family,

Sorry for your loss Rosemary and Ciaran. RIP
Fondly remembered. David was by far the best lecturer I encountered in UCD, and one of the best, over 60+ years, anywhere.
The 9 am schedule was often a challenge but he always got there before 9:20, and it was always worth waiting.
