My sincere condolences to Kathleen, Tony, James and Catriona. I can't believe I saw him for the first time in years only a few weeks back. At first, I didn't recognize him, but then he smiled, and I remembered that smile from way back.

I went to secondary with Dave in Limerick. Such a friendly and warm chap Dave was. Always generous with his ideas , time and knowledge of the world and lived his school days his way. In the latter half of secondary school Dave became a vast resource of popular culture and music and I often asked him to procure the rarest bootleg recordings. I sadly lost touch with Dave a few years after. Sincere condolences to his family , friends and everyone who knew him. So sad to hear of Dave’s passing .

I’m so sorry for your loss Colm, Una, all of Dave’s extended family, Fred and all those who loved him, which, it appears, was everyone who knew him.

I met Dave when our kids were childhood friends in Dungarvan. He was as nice and as gentle a soul as you could ever find. I enjoyed our chats as we ferried kids from house to house.

He left a lasting impression on me and I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I’ll remember him with great affection. May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear of the passing of Dave. Thinking back 35 yrs ago when I first met Dave and Fred. York tce in Cork , happy days. Dave was always a gentle, smiley person. There was no bad in him. I got to know Dave from social media and we had some great conversations. We often shared stuff in private he was a wonderful kind empathetic man. He was very clever and so very funny. May he rest in power!

Dave, I had been thinking of you - about you playing Syd Barrett's The Madcap Laughs album to me about 30 years ago - just a couple of days before I heard the awful news. The last time I saw you was in Adare shortly before we moved to Sydney in August 2002. I have often thought of that weekend and other great times in Cork and Limerick over the years. My condolences to your family and everyone who cared for and loved you.

So sad and shocked to hear this news, I too have great memories of Dave in Dooradoyle. Dave accompanied me to my Debs at Crescent College, the perfect gent! He introduced me to such amazing music, alternative groups and bands which I still listen to today. RIP Dave, condolences to all the Kennelly family.

Very sorry to hear about David’s passing. I was very friendly with David during our late teenage years, hanging out in Dooradoyle. My condolences to his family and his friends.

From the very first time we got together (Mayo 25 years ago) his warmth, kindness and most of all his joy and great sense of humour struck me. He was one of the first to welcome me into (what became) the family. And it was, as always, genuine and with a smile. That didn’t seem to change over the years. Whenever we chatted we simply were at ease.

That’s how I will remember Dave. And how I want to think of him. A good soul. A warm and kind man.

I never met Daithí in person, but spoke to him often over the years online. He was a wonderful human and I'm so sorry for the loss of all the lucky people who called him family and who called him friend. The world is a poorer place without him in it.
