Deace was a valued colleague and friend when I was Town Clerk in Letterkenny back in the 1970s when we were both youngsters. We lost track when I returned to Galway but it was evident even at that early stage that he was destined to make his mark in local government, business and the GAA. May he rest in peace and enjoy eternal reward for all his goodness and may God comfort and sustain you all at this most difficult time.

I am so sorry to, just now, learn about Deace's passing. Just a few years ago, we met again for the first time in fifty years, having spent five years together in St. Eunan's College, Letterkenny and it felt like we had kept in touch all along.. I was so glad to meet up with him again as I had good memories of him as a bright, fun-loving, classmate all those years ago. My most sincere sympathies to Deace's immediate and extended family. It was with great sorrow that I learned of the untimely passing of David ( Deace) Mackey.
