David McAvinchey

Dear Liz, Andrew, Claire, Paul, Shane and Gavin. I have no words to really capture how much I have enjoyed being in your company since I showed up circa 1996. It has been a privilege to have known David, always welcoming, interested in what I was up too, and an absolute laugh, as Andrew said perfectly, "a force field of recognition". I deeply appreciate that I knew David ongoingly as I grew up (and still growing up!) and will remember him as a man who lived life fully and left humanity in a better place because of his contribution.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Dave. I met him in Baghdad, Iraq, where I was working as a theatre nurse. I had been in Una's class in Dundalk, and then realised that Dave was her brother. It was a pleasure to work with him, and I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to his wife and children, to his sister Una, and to the entire family and friends. May he RIP

Dear Liz and Family,
It is with great sadness that we heard of Dave’s death. He was always super to meet and great to be in his company. He was friends with many in the class. Personally, I remember in particular , his time in the Mater Hospital in the 80’s when we shared research interests and latterly at our reunions , swapping stories about sailing which we both loved.
