A wonderful conductor. It was an absolute joy to make music with you, Maestro. My condolences to your friends and family and much love from Germany.
David enriched our lives and we are very very sorry to hear of his passing.
Sincere sympathies to the Milne family on the passing of David. May he rest in peace.
Sorry for your loss, Helen. And to the family.
Many many condolences to all of David’s loved ones, from me and all the Burrows family. Mr. Milne, as we knew him, enriched all of our lives with his passion, charm and wit. His memory will never be forgotten, by myself, the whole family, and so many more. May he rest in peace.
The iniquity of it all..
Deepest condolences to all of Mr Milne's loved ones.
I had the honour of being in the school choir, chamber choir, piano and double bass lessons, orchestra and music classes with Mr Milne. Music surrounded my time in Kilkenny College and despite it not exactly being a talent of mine, Mr Milne's support and encouragement was never ending.
Wesley College competitions are a favourite memory and I can still remember singing "Comme je trouve" for the first time.
Whenever I hear John Rutter's 'For the beauty of the earth' and Carpenter's 'Close to you', I always think of Mr Milne and always will.

I am so saddened to hear of David's passing. I was lucky enough to be in the choir in St Columba’s College where Mr Milne introduced us to so many variable and beautiful pieces of music. His encouragement and inclusion instilled my great love of choral music in both school and later in college. My heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends.
Thinking of you Helen and sending you our sympathies, thoughts and love at this very difficult time.
Sincere condolences to Helen and the Milne family on David's passing. May he Rest In Peace.

What a privelage to have known and worked with David Milne. And treasured memories also of Danette and David's brother John. Deepest condolences to Helen, to all David's family and friends and to the countless many who have been deeply touched by his immense talent and generosity of spirit.
Sending my heartfelt condolences Becky and to your family, keeping you in my thoughts. May he rest in peace.
David's ability to nurture, mentor, encourage, teach and support knew no bounds, and it's probably fair to estimate that his influence touched hundreds, if not thousands of students throughout his career. I feel so lucky to be among them, to have had David as my piano teacher, and to have sung in the Kilkenny College Chamber Choir under his direction. My time in school is now a flurry of wonderful memories, but most revolve around music with David placed firmly at the centre.
I'll never forget how at the Wesley College music festival, he leant over to myself and Deirdre before our performance of Delibes' Flower Duet in the duet competition, to whisper to us that he'd hold the classroom door open towards the end of the song, and that we were to finish our performance from the corridor. He timed the delivery of this message perfectly; there was no time for objections, or for any teenage embarrassment to set in! And that, for me, was David to a T - he understood his students so well and knew how to coax the very best out of them.
My deepest condolences to David's family and loved ones at this very difficult time. I hope you find comfort in the incredible legacy that David has left behind.
Rest in peace, David - I hope the choirs of angels are singing beautifully under your direction this Christmas.

The loveliest man. We always enjoyed your company David and have very happy memories of your years in Castlecomer. May you rest in peace xx
So saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved music teacher Mr Milne.
I was lucky to have spent many a piano lesson with the keyboard lid closed just discussing music and composers with this great man while at Kilkenny College, he was a wonderful teacher, an inspiration and a friend.
A generation of musicians are standing on your shoulders sir, you will be greatly missed.

I am very sad to hear of David's passing. His teaching and enthusiasm in St Columba's College helped cement a love and enthusiasm for all genres of music and singing that remain with me to this day. That continued when he conducted Trinity Choral Soc. in the 1980s.
I also recall him to be a very kind hearted man with time for pupils of all ranges of musical ability while looking to maintain high standards. This time of year brings to mind his insistance that it was "tidings of comFORT and joy" not "comFERT and joy"..... May he rest in peace and condolences to all his family.

Sending our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to David's beloved wife, his adored children, grandchildren, brothers and all his extended family. We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the sad passing of this incredible man. There are not enough words to thank this professional, inspirational, kind, quiet, unassuming and wonderful man that gave so much happiness and joy for music to our son, Joseph, while he was under his guidance in both choirs in his 6 years in Kikenny College and to so many others which is vast the lives that David has touched. I have to say David gave our son an incredible joy and passion for singing and music that Joseph did not give to anyone until he started with David and David unlocked that door for him. Joseph and Alan and I will be forever grateful to this man for the incredible gift he had to engage and bring out their talent no matter the voice or instrument. He will be surely and dearly missed by all who knew him, he will never be forgotten and will be spoken about with such fondness for many years to come..thank you David Milne for the amazing man you never assumed you were ❤️
My sincere condolences to the family and friends of David. I remember the day David came up to me in Kilkenny College to tell me he would now be my piano teacher. He had only just arrived and I did not realise the significance of that day. As I was the only person in my Leaving Cert class, the majority of my academic classes became piano lessons and his love of Baroque music was passed over to me. Trips to Wesley Competitions were in his car with my supporter!!! David then became my colleague in Kilkenny when he asked me back to teach and finally it came full circle when I had the pleasure to share the professional stage with him.
I cannot thank you enough for everything David. Your music will always continue to flow through so many. RIP Maestro.

So sorry to hear of David’s passing, thinking of Helen and his entire family. I was lucky enough to be in the orchestra for Messiah (and the rest) when David conducted Trinity Choral Soc all those years ago, and I remember his infectious enthusiasm and determination to wring the very best out of us all - what an inspiration he was to players, choir members, soloists, we got there together in the end - thank you David for all these great memories.
a long time since meeting David last, but good musical memories: my condolences to all the family

My sincere condolences to all of David's family on your great loss. David touched the lives of thousands through his giftedness in music and choral work; but even more importantly as an exemplar of the kind, positive, forward thinking, open minded, always encouraging, witty gentleman that inspired so many of us to be our best selves. A gracious and generous host, David was always excellent company and a most highly respected colleague and friend. I have complete faith that he is already conducting choirs of angels. May he rest in the Peace of God.

I had the pleasure of being one of Mr Milne’s students through our music classes and as a member of the chamber choir in Kilkenny college.
He had an ability to make you feel confident and tall even when you might not feel that way.
He would talk all your worries away and make you laugh!
Rest well Mr Milne

Condolences to Mr. Milnes family, friends and loved ones. He was always so kind and enthusiastic about his love for music. Being part of the choir with him teaching was alway a great joy for me in school. My favorite memory of David was him telling us a joke about two blondes buying a bull, it helped cheer us all up as it was coming into exam time and he could see we were under pressure. It is to this day my favorite joke to tell. He will be greatly missed by so many, rest in peace.
We were so sad to hear of Davids passing.
Davids talent, passion & leadership will never be forgotten and will be cheerished in our hearts & in our continued love for music.
We remember him so fondly during music class, music lessons, choir competitions, piano exam preparations and the continuous laughter coming from that famous "all are welcome here" music room in Kilkenny College.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Mr. Milne's passing. I was lucky enough to have Mr. Milne as my piano teacher and music teacher at Kilkenny College for 3 years, and also had the privilege of singing under his mentorship in the Chamber Choir. I cherish those memories when I think of my time at school and will never forget how kind Mr. Milne was as a teacher. He recognised potential in people and was so encouraging, patient and generous with his time and spirit.
One of my favourite memories is singing The Blue Bird by Charles Villiers Standord and Luca Wetherall with the Chamber Choir in our final 6th year concert. A truly beautiful piece of music and one that will always make me think of him and those happy days at school. Sending my deepest condolences to Mr. Milne's family and friends.
Rest in peace and thank you for the music.

I feel very privileged to have known Mr Milne. In Kilkenny College, he passed on his love for music to me and many others with the greatest honour being asked to sing in the Chamber Choir. I followed him to the Guinness Choir and have many many fond memories singing under his
masterful musicianship.
One of my fondest memories of him will forever be his saying - 'painting the elephant from the inside'.
Rest in peace Mr Milne - A true gentleman!

Mr. Milne was the most inspiring musician, understanding and patient teacher and absolute gentleman to the core. Many of us are grateful to him for making our teenage years so enjoyable and memorable by giving us the gift of music. He shared his time and knowledge so generously and nurtured and shaped a lot of careers and lives through his teaching. He won't be forgotten. My thoughts and sincere condolences are with all those who loved him.
Déanaim comhbhrón ó chroí le Nick, Anya, Luana agus Cuan ar bhás David; athair, athair cleamhnais agus athair mór. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam ceolmhar.
Becky, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. Sending love to you, your family and everyone who loved David.
David Milne was one of my favourite teachers throughout school and it was because of him I got so much joy from being part of an orchestra and learning music through my time in Kilkenny College. He never failed to get the best from us, including our silly little mascots and jokes even when performing at competitions. He was a wonderful man, a fantastic teacher, and an inspiration to all. My deepest sympathies.
I am so sorry to have learned of David’s death. My years in Camerata are a cherished memory of singing the wonderful music selected by David and of his outstanding musicianship as our conductor. They were also full of camaraderie and such fun.
When I think of him, his gentle regard and warm smile always shine first. He was a lovely man.
My very sincere sympathies to all who loved him on their loss.
