Shocked to hear of David leaving us and thinking of his family
Made contact with David on Collect Ireland in 2018, we only spoke once on the phone, we kept in contact by email. He alerted me to Lilian Murdoch paintings on auctions and I told him about William Huston paintings for sale. I wondered why he didn't reply this week when a Huston blackbird was on a local auction. Our last emails were in August when he was in the Isle Of Man.
I will miss our email chats about paintings and postcards of lesser known artists.

So deeply sorry to hear that David passed away He was a great friend to us when we lived in Dromod. The last time I spoke with him he was in the Isle of Man with one of his sons and enjoying his time there. Apologies for not attending his funeral as I did not know about it at the time. Sincere sympathy to Danny Robin Sinead and all his friends. He's at peace now and I'm sure he's tinkering around with trains still. God Bless.

RIP David.
Sincere sympathy to Danny, Robin, Sinead & extended family & friends on the death of David. We were shocked today to find out that David had died as a regular Car Boot follower texted to say that the date for Rathcormac next Car Boot Sale had not been updated on "Collect Ireland.com" website. We knew immediately that something seriously was wrong as David looked after the advertising of our Car Boot Sale on Collect Ireland so efficiently every month for us. He was a pleasure to e-mail and was always so helpful. He was genuinely interested in our Car Boot and was delighted to hear how the day had gone for us. He will be sorely missed for all his hard work in this area. We will miss the monthly e-mails. May he now rest in peace. Tom & Kathy Kearney, Rathcormac Car Boot Sale.

Our sincere sympathy to Danny and Robin on the passing of your Dad, we have great memories of David coming into the bakery and enjoyed some great chats. He was so proud of his two boys and our conversation nearly always ended talking about Danny and Robin. David was a real gentleman, may he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to Sinead and family,
My sincere sympathy to David's family, relatives and friends at his passing. May he rest in peace.
I was very sad to hear of David's passing. He was great for chats about the Irish Railway scene. His contribution in the 1980's has meant that there are items preserved now that would have been lost. He saw the need to preserve old railway stock before many others did and I'm very grateful for that. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Poem for David.
Beannacht/Blessing/
by John O’Donohoe..
On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.
And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window,
and the ghost of loss
gets into you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green
and azure blue,
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delights.
When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of the light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.

My sincere condolences to David's loved ones on his sad passing. I first encountered David when he was living in Co Tipperary in a former railway goodstore - a setting that epitomised his enthusiasm for things railway. He later moved with colleagues to Dromod where he was one of the founders of the Cavan and Leitrim project. He also essayed into publishing was expert in promoting the case for rail development. I lost touch with him in recent years but recall being inspired by his enthusiasm. May David rest in peace.

Danny and Robin, we are so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. Thinking of you both and Sinead and his family .
I have just learned, with shock and great sadness, of the death of my dear life-long friend, David Parks, whom I had known since we were both about seven years old. We were neighbours and grew up together. We made each other’s boyhoods immeasurably better than would otherwise have been the case. We had immense fun together, especially in those early years.
I loved him dearly and I always will.
I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his sons, Danny and Robin; to their mother, Sinéad; and to all who knew and loved him.
Until we meet again, dear friend, rest in peace.
