I was terribly sorry to read the news of Mr Quirke's death. Though 'Mr' sounds formal, it's only because he was my teacher in 'High Infants' in the old National School in Tipperary Town in 1965. I remember him fondly, the personification of all that's good and kind - in essence, a gentle man. May his gentle soul rest in peace too. Heartfelt sympathy to all his family.
