So sorry Helen, David and James on David's recent death. I got to know David through the Chapelizod Heritage Society, he was a font of knowledge of both Chapelizod and Island Bridge with his early military history that extended our archive. He was such a gentle, kind and considerate man who will be greatly missed. Condolence to you and the extended family. May he rest in peace.

As a valued Trustee, David played a leading role in preserving the serenity, reflective, and remembrance nature of the Irish National War Memorial Gardens, a hallowed site in Islandbridge, commemorating all those Irish soldiers, from across the island of Ireland, who died in both World Wars.

His physical proximity to the Memorial Gardens and his keen and unwavering interest in their upkeep and maintenance was a much appreciated asset to the Trust. I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of David. He was not only a valued member of the Royal British Legion, but a steadfast supporter whose dedication and commitment over the years will never be forgotten. His contributions to the RBL have touched the lives of so many, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
