Ruth, we just learned of the very sad passing of David, you are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

I’ve waited until now to express my sadness and thoughts on my dear friend and neighbour Dave Smith Allen.
When Dave and Ruth moved in across the wall 25 years ago I didn’t anticipate that he would become such a huge part of all our lives. I can honestly say that he was the most positive man I’ve ever known. Despite being challenged by various health issues over the past 10 years Dave never complained ,never gave up and just got on with life doing his garden and going on holidays and concerts with his beloved Ruth
Reading the many words of condolences above the same sentiments keep coming up such as he was such a gentleman, a joy to meet, sociable, kind , great sense of humour.
He was non judgemental , he treated everyone with respect and focused on the good in people
My boys loved Dave like a special uncle and so sad that he will not be here when they next come home.
Still they have fond and beautiful memories of him.
Dave you enriched all our lives with your love and humour.
We will miss you so

We are all thinking of you at this very difficult time from “Down Under”.
We were all very fond of Dave.
Dave has been a wonderful neighbour since he moved into Ballinamanaugh 25 years ago.
He was a kind, thoughtful, generous, witty gentleman who was a brilliant cook with a great sense of humour.
We had wonderful “neighbours nights” that we all looked forward to and Dave was always up for the “craic”.
Ruth, you and Dave were a lovely happy couple who enjoyed all those exotic holidays together and I always loved listening to your travel experiences and adventures when ye got home.
Even in the past year with Dave’s cancer ye packed in 4 foreign trips.
I was so glad of the opportunity to have been able to say goodbye to Dave and hold his hand. I think Dave organised that. Unfortunately I can’t be with you for Dave’s funeral.
We will miss you Dave.
