I'm so very sad to hear that Dave has gone, he was one of my oldest and best friends.
I shall miss our long chats reminiscing about the old times, Saltley Grammar school discos (Dave was a great dancer), our shared love of music, catching up with news about our families and so many other topics too numerous to mention.
Many a night Dave's Dad Graham would be giving a gang of us a lift home from Birmingham town centre where we'd all been out having a great old time. When we hadn't missed the last bus Dave would be leading the singing on the top deck. He had a great voice and played guitar well enough to be in a band in the early days.
Later he would be the best man at my wedding (to Bill Griffin) and then when Phil and Graham moved back to Tuam, Dave went too and we would go for holidays. And what a welcome we had! So many happy memories of times spent in Tuam staying with Phil and Graham and meeting up with Dave's family.
When my daughter Heather came along she was made such a fuss of by them all. Dave always asked after her whenever we spoke and then her children when they arrived.
I'm glad I had the chance to have a good chat with Dave on his birthday in April, we always joked that he was a year older than me for 3 days!
Goodbye Dave, you were so brave with all you had to deal with healthwise but you never failed to make us smile.
Such a wonderful man, much loved and missed by me and Heather.

I cherish memories of our blissful simple childhood days we spent together as long lanky kids together with you, auntie Phil & uncle Graham at 88 Malmesbury Road.

I remember the summer days we spent existing on just Jammie Dodgers, Jaffa Cakes and auntie Phil’s fantastic chips!

You were always kind, gentle, happy and always an inspiration to me big Dave.
