Condolences to his family & friends,

We went to North Strand Tech together.
And we both worked in Hopkins and Hopkins O’Connell Street.

David i was hoping to have a new year chat with you , i wanted to chat about Joe and your Dad and of course your Mom and many more from old Saint Mary's Road. I am sad and so sorry that we cant have that chat now , or maybe we can have it in Heaven. Well rest in peace David and thanks for retaining and producing Joe O'Grady's songs when you did. .I hope and pray that your family will find the strength to deal with their sad loss of such a loved one. Gerry Smullen.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave when I started in Aerlingus as a young man. Dave was a kind, nice man who would always be there to help and I really appreciated it. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there today. RIP Dave,

I am deeply saddened by this. I am the author of the historical novel Death and Mr Pickwick, and David was a huge fan of my novel. He visited the novel's facebook page all the time, and he often sent me links to websites which I could share on the page. My wife Elaine and I met him once in Dublin, when we went on an unforgettable pubcrawl. I had hoped that we could meet again, but it was not to be, alas.

David said to me that Death and Mr Pickwick was 'like a time machine' in the way it recreated the past. I will never forget that. I wish I had an actual time machine now so that I could go back into the past and see David again, and learn more about him. I would be grateful if any friends and relatives reading this could contact me via the Death and Mr Pickwick facebook page or website and tell me some good anecdotes and memories of David, as I would like to do a memorial facebook post about him, though after writing this I shall do a short post announcing his death to fellow fans of the book.

Rest in Peace David. I can see you now up above, smiling and raising a glass of heavenly Guinness.
