I taught James woodwork in St Thomas, school Peckham SE London ,
One of the items he made was a really 1st class pepper mill.
He invited my wife and me to his Ordination which was a pleasure and surprise. When ever we attended the Cathedral for a special service he would always make a point of meeting us to have a chat.
James was a lovely man and we are sad he has departed this life so soon.

So sorry to hear of dear Deacon Jim's death.

A faithful servant of the Cathedral and Diocese, who knew and ministered to so many people and families - "Man, boy & foetus"...!! - and encouraged many, including myself, on their journey of vocation.
It was always 'Tea & Sympathy' on the dot of 3:15pm!

May you enjoy the reward of your fidelity and rise to glory on the last day.

Sadly missed and fondly remembered. Deacon Jim was a good friend and colleague, fellow deacon. Happy memories of the many occasions we assisted at the Altar together. He vested me as a Deacon on my Ordination Day, and 13 years earlier I was an Altar Server at his Ordination in St George's Cathedral. Still use the Stole he gave me as an Ordination Gift. God Bless you Jim, Thank you for your ministry and your years of service to our Archdiocese of Southwark, thank you for your advice, encouragement, wisdom, and also the many laughs. Rest in Peace. Rise in Glory and may the Lords words now echo in your ears, " Well Done good and faithful servant
