Heartfelt Sympathy and Condolences to all the Laverty family, Fr. Aodhán Cannon, Fellow Clergy, Josephine, and the Church of the Holy Family Parishioners on the sudden loss of Dean Laverty RIP. I will remember Dean Laverty most by his agility in genuflecting with ease at the opening and closing of mass, his mental acuity, his assembly of the Praise and Worship Sanctuary Banners for the Sacrament of Holy Communion and the Christmas Season, and his signature Black Aran Knit sweaters. Dean Laverty’s absence at mid-week masses during the summer and winter will be a great loss.

I am very sorry to hear of the death of Fr. Austin. I remember him when we were both students at St. Eunan's in Letterkenny in the 1950's and more recently when he came to Ardara as PP. A man of principle and strong conviction. He will be a huge loss to the parish of Ardara and the clergy family in the diocese of Raphoe.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dean Austin Laverty — Austin gave me a job teaching in St Eunan’s College in August 1977. A remarkable and good man, quick-witted, with a soft centre full of human goodness and deep care for others, a truly fine preacher — may the Lord embrace you and may you rest in peace Austin - a life so well-lived.
Deepest sympathy to Eunan and all Fr. Austin's family and friends on his sad passing. It was nice to see him honoured yesterday in Mac Cumhaill Park. Go raibh leaba aige i measc na Naomh.
We are the New Zealand part of Fr Austin's mother Celia Gallagher Lavertys' family. We have had the most wonderful, witty, wise letters and conversations over the past 40 years with Fr Austin, first my Dad Basil Gallagher and then me ever since we began writing the book "The Gallaghers of Cronadun". The last conversation I had was on St Brigid's feast day Feb 1 this year 2 weeks ago, Fr Austin sounded so happy. Fr Austin came to NZ first in 1999, for our Gallagher family reunions at Cronadun Reefton NZ. He was welcomed onto Whakatu Marae in Nelson with his Hippolite Gallagher cousins and was also celebrant at our wedding in Sacred Heart Church Addington Christchurch in 2004. Beautifully fluent in Irish, Fr Austin with Eunan and Teresa have warmly welcomed many family members over the years to Donegal and helped family folk understand the history of the troubles and the ancient deep history of Ireland. Fr Austin is deeply loved by his extended Gallagher family and will always be held in our loving memory. Many blessings on you Eunan Teresa Therese Roisin and dear Josephine and all the family and the people students and priests of Ardara and Raphoe with whom Fr Austin lived loved and worked.
Aku mihi arohanui great deep love Kathleen Gallagher

My deepest sympathy on hearing this sad and shocking news today. A loss to us all.

I was blessed to meet Dean Austin in September with his cousin Rosemary Gallagher when we came from America to retreat at Ards Friary in August.

He drove us all over the lovely countryside and to their ancient family home place. I never knew such pure kindness and sincere care. I’m most grateful for this privilege and send heartfelt blessings to Josephine who fed us, and to his brother and sister in law and the entire family and circle of friends and parishioners.
May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, rest in peace.
Sympathy to the Laverty family circle . May He rewst in peace.
Condolences to all who knew and loved Dean Laverty. He married my husband and I over 10 years ago.
