So very sad to hear of the passing of Dearbhla. May she Rest in Peace. She was such a true and dedicated professional. Sincere sympathy to all the Gill family.

To the Gill Family,

Dearbhla was so special, she was beautiful inside and out. Kind, sweet and caring. Filled with love and faith. We have lost a dear loving cousin and heaven has gained an angel. We are heartbroken and will forever have a whole in our hearts. Our prayers are thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.

We were so blessed to have spent wonderful times with Dearbhla during her trips across the pond to Connecticut. She truly was one of God’s best. May we all hold a piece of her kindness in our hearts every day.

We were immensely saddened to hear about the loss of our dear cousin, Dearbhla. She fulfilled such a vibrant, faith filled life who touched all she came in contact with. Dearbhla's spirit will live in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten. May her wisdom, love and faith be a source of blessing and guidance for us all. She will be missed by so many. Our deepest condolences to Cáit, Brian, John and Róisín. Love from all the cousins in the USA. xox

An excellent, diligent student when she attended Mercy College, Sligo, Dearbhla became a teacher and Principal who enriched the lives of those she taught and indeed of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She served the community of Réalt na Mara school and Rosses Point so well and her legacy and memory will live on into the future. Condolences to the Gill family on Dearbhla’s passing. She was a delegate to the Western Province of CPSMA for many years. Dearbhla was aware of the current issues in education and wise in her observations. Memories of time spent in Dearbhla’s company will always return. As in Brendan Kennelly’s poem so beautifully read at her Requiem Mass it is hard to acknowledge conclusion.

We feel so lucky that our daughter will carry the fullness of these gifts within her and her relationships with her school friends and teachers and will always remember Dearbhla for this. We are so grateful that our family has enjoyed being part of the beautiful school community that Dearbhla guided with all the grounded and inspiring qualities of a great, honest, kind, wise, courageous and resilient Principal and leader. I was so sorry to hear about Miss Gill. She was the most wonderful teacher I ever had, she is the one teacher I always remember, when I watch Matilda with my children now she has always come to mind. Dearbhla was the first principal to put my feet under a teacher's desk and trust me with her beloved 3rd class children in S.N. Réalt na Mara, back in 2003. Her kindness and support over those 2 years was invaluable to me as a newly qualified teacher. I loved every minute of it there. Her influence on my teaching is her legacy to me.

Dearbhla always spoke so highly of John, Brian and Roisín, her dad John who had just passed at that time, and of course her mum Cait.

Her warmth, kindness and dedication to the role of teaching principal was untold. She really was a briliant teacher.

The world is a lesser place without her.

My sincere condolences to the whole of Rosses Point, but most especially her family, friends, staff and students at this time.

My deepest sympathies on the death of Dearbhla. I was in St. Pats and shared a corridor in Moville residence with her for 3 years. I have such fond memories of that time. She was vibrant and full of life and we shared great laughs. She will be missed.
